Note From the Artist: This piece, "Rickhouse Resonance," is the heart of "The Red Thread Triptych," capturing the essence of the performance in Louisville. My inspiration was to transform the iconic red guitar string into a visceral representation of the city's spirit and the band's alchemical sound.
Here, the glowing red thread coils upwards, becoming the lyne arm of a magnificent copper pot still, symbolizing the intensifying jam and the powerful distillation of sound into pure energy.
The entire scene is set within a bourbon rickhouse, its stacked barrels curving inward dramatically to echo the sweeping architecture of the Yum! Center's seating bowl. Look closely, and you'll discover subtle nods to the craft: barrel stamp glyphs subtly conceal guitar picks and fret dots, while guitar soundhole patterns are woven into the end-grain of the barrels.
From the still's vapor, a ghostly thoroughbred emerges, an ethereal apparition that hints at Louisville's equine heritage without resorting to cliché. The rich palette of bourbon ambers, deep charcoals, and cool steel grays, brought to life with metallic copper ink on the still itself, underscores the warm, kinetic, and alchemical energy of the night.
