When I thought about a Billy Strings Halloween show in Baltimore, my mind immediately went to a kind of spooky, high-octane celebration. I wanted to create a scene that felt like a secret, after-dark event where the strange and wonderful come out to play. The idea of a Halloween drag strip just clicked. I imagined this muscle car, a beast with pumpkin eyes, ready to race into the night. The pit crew is my favorite part – a little family of misfits like the ghostly goat, the tough 'Skate Rat,' and the fuzzy 'Bassmaster,' all just hanging out and being themselves. It's a blend of American folklore, racing culture, and that slightly eerie but fun feeling of Devil's Night, all set to a bluegrass soundtrack. It's my tribute to the music and the community around it.
