When I imagined this show at the BankNH Pavilion, right on the water in New Hampshire, I was inspired by the idea of local folklore and the monumental energy of a live concert. I wanted to create a guardian for the evening—a mythic lake serpent that wasn't fearsome, but was part of the venue itself. I designed it to feel like a great, protective amphitheater rising from the depths, breathing fire that represents the light and heat of the music. The woodblock style was important to me, giving it a timeless, hand-crafted feel, as if this legend was carved into the history of the place. The lone canoe is there to invite you in, to be part of the moment.
