This piece, "Feathered Proscenium — Two Nights, One Portal," was born from a desire to merge the majestic grandeur of the Louisville Palace Theatre with the ethereal, avian spirit of Goose. My vision was to distill the iconic proscenium arch into a singular, radiant portal—a ceremonial threshold to the live music experience.

You'll notice how traditional architectural elements like acanthus scrolls and Moorish tracery resolve into interlaced feathers, crowning the central oculus like a gilded, ornate nest. Two guardian geese, poised majestically on opposite capitals, seem to call the crowd to attention, embodying the band's essence. The arch's bead-and-reel detail subtly transforms into a ring of feather quills, while within the ornate rosettes, I've woven in miniature bourbon barrel hoops and a lone horseshoe—a quiet, fond nod to Louisville itself.

The deep red velvet drapes, pulled open from either side, have been stylized to echo the delicate barbs of a wing. Above, within the oculus, a faint constellation twinkles in the midnight indigo sky, forming the silhouette of a goose in flight. The very texture of the auditorium's dark wood below is abstracted into flowing grain lines that bend towards this celestial oculus, meant to evoke sound waves converging on the stage.

One of my favorite details is how the two crystal chandeliers inside the arch tell the story of two nights. One radiates a subtly warmer glow, the other cooler, signifying Night 1 and Night 2, yet maintaining a unified composition. This delicate interplay of light adds a unique depth to the narrative. The "GOOSE" wordmark itself is crafted with elegant letterforms, nested in gilded inline highlights, giving it the appearance of being carved and lit, perfectly integrating with the opulence of the design.

Every line in this design, especially the feather-filigree, is designed to be crisp and rewarding upon close inspection, further enhanced by a clear spot gloss on the oculus halo and chandeliers. My intention was to create a design that feels both opulent and reverent—a truly transportive shrine to the magic of live music, celebrating both the band's celestial/avian DNA and the timeless splendor of the Palace.
