When I set out to create this piece for Johnny Blue Skies' Kansas City show, I wanted to cook up something that felt as spicy, soulful, and uniquely KC as the city itself. I imagined a mascot for the music – this grinning, freewheeling skeleton who's part bluesman, part BBQ pitmaster. He's not just holding any hot sauce; it's 'Johnny's Bone-Melt Sauce – KC Heat,' my little nod to the city's legendary barbecue culture. The whole design is a tribute to the raw, unfiltered energy of a live show, translated into the bold, flat colors and thick lines of old-school screenprinted gig posters. It’s my fan-to-fan celebration of the kind of night where the music is so hot, it practically melts your bones.
