When I set out to design this piece for the Johnny Blue Skies show, I was deeply inspired by old-timey medicine show labels and the warm, rustic feel of the band's music. I imagined a 'Newark Formula' tonic, a magical elixir bottling the spirit of the city and the concert. I wanted the skeleton to be a friendly bandmate, not a grim figure, so I gave him a musician's relaxed posture and some rosy cheeks. The little details, like the string lights tucked into the letters and the tiny whale surfacing in the bottle, were my way of adding hidden layers for fans to discover—a nod to the depth and discovery in the band's songs. It's my tribute to a night of incredible music, crafted with the care of a vintage label.
