When I set out to create this piece, I wanted to capture the unique spirit of Santa Barbara and the mythic feel of Johnny Blue Skies' music. I was inspired by the juxtaposition of the wild, untamed coyote—a true icon of the American West—against the serene, historic architecture of the Santa Barbara Mission. To me, it represents the intersection of nature and human history, a theme that echoes in the band's soulful sound. I used a detailed, cross-hatching technique to give the art a timeless, engraved quality, as if it's a piece of local folklore. The bougainvillea vines weaving through the lettering felt like the perfect way to ground the design in that classic California coastal vibe. It's my personal tribute to an amazing band and an unforgettable place.
