When I set out to create a piece for The Red Clay Strays' San Antonio show, I wanted to capture something both timeless and distinctly Texan. The longhorn skull felt like the perfect icon—a symbol of resilience that mirrors the band's powerful, gritty sound. I imagined this poster as a lost treasure, a vintage screenprint with bold, hand-carved lines and a sun-drenched palette of rust and adobe. The working hand holding the rope is a tribute to the raw authenticity in their music. I also wove in small, subtle details, like the gears in the background and the little bear peeking from behind the banner, as a quiet nod to the unique spirit of the venue. For me, this isn't just a poster; it's my visual interpretation of a perfect night of Southern soul and rock and roll in the heart of Texas.
